Q Could you tell us of any memorable happenings during th filming?
Nakashima: Me and (Murayama) Miu had our first ever quarrel. Our co-start told us to make up (laughs)
All: (laughs)
Q What was the reason?
Nakashima: When we were filming the promotional comment video, as Miu is not very good at speaking, she was feeling down and said “I wasn’t able to say it well”. Then she said, “It must be nice for you Yuzuki-chan, for being good at it”. Then I replied, “It’s not like I’m good at it either, perhaps you should work harder for it”... Then we ended up being like “Hmph”, and had a small fight (laughs)
Q How did you make up?
Murayama: We counted down and said it together on cue.
Nakashima: We apologized at the same time, talked about what we did wrong and made up
Q I’m glad to hear that it ended with just a small fight
Ishimori: There was something memorable when filming our episode (Ep 2) as well. We had fun conversing together during the filming break time. At the time, Nagi-chan (Kojima) was called for filming. When I watched the filming, Nagi-chan was sobbing really hard. Just moments before we were chatting lively, but as soon as filming started she switched her feelings in an instant and began crying. That was really amazing and surprised me.
Kojima: Speaking of which, there was something that surprised me as well. There is a scene where Rika and Riko are arguing, but the two of them were happily chatting right before the filming. The moment the filming started, Rika was furious at Riko! I was surprised how quickly she changed into character, and I was worried if they’ll actually have a fall out. That moment was really scary (laughs)
Q Please tell us the highlight point or memorable scenes from each episode. Let us start from Nakashima-san and Murayama-san’s Ep 1
Nakashima: The character I acted as, Yuika, is around 30 years old while Mari, who is played by Miu is a high schooler; there is an age difference in their relationship. The mismatch that come from that age difference was a bit difficult portray
Murayama: But Yuzuki-chan already looks mature in the usual, so even though your character is in her 30s, I don’t think there were that much contrast from how you usually are
Nakashima: Eh, is that so? (laughs)
Murayama: Your acting was that good
Q What about Kojima-san, Endo-san, Ishimori-san’s Ep 2?
Kojima: The highlight is how cute the uniforms we are wearing are. Original uniforms with cherry blossom embroidery were made for this drama. We were happy to be able to wear our uniforms that are different from our usual Sakurazaka46 ones.
Ishimori: Stylish fit for its wearer, wasn’t it?
Endo: It’s a uniform praised by everyone and full of details, so I hope that you can pay attention to it.
Q Taniguchi-san and Murai-san appears in Ep 3
Taniguchi: This was shown in the trailer, but there is a scene where us and “Opposum” band members formed a circle together. The disorganized and awkward feeling of that moment was funny, I like it.
Murai: I find it funny how the father of Noa, the character I am playing as, was the only one enthusiastic while everyone else seemed forced to join
Q And what of Ep 4, in which Matono-san and Odakura-san appear?
Odakura: There are many mysterious and thrilling scenes, and there is a scene where the character I play as, Rei, goes to save Tsumugi who is played by Matono, but I can’t help but to laugh at that part.
Matono: It’s not “the typical way to save someone”, isn’t it? It’s a very unexpected way of helping, so I hope that everyone could see it
Q What about Ep 5 that Yamashita-san and Mukai-san appear in?
Mukai: There is a scene where, as members of the cheering squad, we practiced cheering. We practiced for that scene from even before the filming started
Yamashita: We shouted out loud, and because of that our voices was always hoarse whenever we met (laughs)
Mukai: The way we shouted out loud and practiced cheering with all we’ve got has become a very fond memory.
Q By the way… Taniguchi-san, you got teased for your poor enunciation in “Soko Magattara, Sakurazaka?” and such, how did you do your lines?
Taniguchi: Right… It was quite a struggle. Because of the role, I had to speak in a different manner than usual. (To Murai) How was my enunciation?
Murai: You did well! You practiced many times for it.
Taniguchi: Well… I don’t think that I managed to do it well (wry smile). But I gave it my best
Q Was there a line that you had a hard time with?
Taniguchi: The “stage actor” from “An aspiring stage actor who is over 20 years old” was difficult. I also struggled with “20 years old”
Q How many times did you have to retake it?
Taniguchi: About 10 times…?
Murai: She kept failing, so she was told, “Why don’t you take a drink?” and rest for a while.
Taniguchi: And I managed to pull through somehow while taking breaks!
Q Please tell us your thoughts about having “Natsu no Chikamichi” as the theme song. As a representative, why don’t we hear from Taniguchi-san who centered it?
Taniguchi: It was the first song that the 3rd generation received, and I was happy to have that song become the theme song. It brought back memories from when we produce the song, and at the same time, as we struggled with the drama it reminded us of how much we have worked hard.
Q And lastly, this time all 11 members of the 3rd generation worked on a single drama series together. If you could do something together again, what would you like to do?
Mukai: (Looks around) I’m sure everyone is on the same page, right? We always talked about how we all want to do another “3rd Generation Concert”. We weren’t able to perform with all 11 members of the 3rd generation (Odakura and Mukai were absent), so we all hope to be able to do it again one day.
Q Does everyone feel the same way?
All together: Yes!
